Joe Tapia and Bud Galbraith started the Eagles Senior Golf group many years ago. It’s because of their hard work and dedication that we can enjoy the weekly competition and companionship we have.
Bud passed away several years ago. Joe is now 92 and on hospice care. It would be nice if some of us would send him a note letting him know we appreciate his work for the Eagles group and that we are thinking and praying for him.

Horse With No Name (aka)
Green With No Pin
On the first part of the golf course
I was playing on all the greens
There were flats and longs and holes with flags
There was grass and dirt and fringe,
The first thing I saw was no flag on the green and a
green, with no cup
The green was there and the grass was cut
but the green had no cup
I’ve been to the golf course
with a green with no hole
It felt weird to be out on the course
At the golf course, you can’t putt for a point
Cause there ain’t no hole there to give you no gain
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
After two trips round the holess green
My eyes began to turn red
After three trips round the holess green
I was looking at a hopeless case
And the truth it told of the grass that grew
Made me sad to think it was true
You see I’ve been to the golf course
with a green with no hole
It felt weird to be out on the course
Out on the back nine, you can’t putt for a point
Cause there ain’t no hole there to give you no gain
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
After six tries, I took a double bogy
Cause the green had won victory
There were pars and birds and flags and pins
There were 2 and 3 and 4 putts
Golfing is a challenge with its full set of greens
And a perfect putt is more rare
Under the golf course, lies some perfect made greens
But the golfers will give no love
You see I’ve been to the golf course
with a green with no pin
It felt weird to be out on the course
At the golf course, you can’t putt for a point
Cause there ain’t no hole there to give you no gain
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
That didn’t turn out so well. I’ll reformat it and send it out again.
Since I didn’t have anything to do today (game cancelled at Greens at Deerfield) for those of you who played Ridgewood on January 14, 2021 you probably came across the green that had no hole. That reminded me of the song, Horse with no Name by the group called America. Here are the lyrics to Green with no Pin. You can try clicking on the youtube link for the song and then sing along. If anyone wants to change anything, please have at it. Just send out the new version.
Horse With No Name (aka)
Green With No Pin
On the first part of the journey On the first part of the golf course
I was looking at all the life I was playing on all the greens
There were plants and birds and rocks and things There were flats and longs and holes with flags
There was sand and hills and rings There was grass and dirt and fringe,
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz and a The first thing I saw was no flag on the green and a
sky with no clouds green, with no cup
The heat was hot, and the ground was dry The green was there and the grass was cut but the air was full of sound but the green had no cup
I’ve been through the desert I’ve been to the golf course
On a horse with no name with a green with no hole
It felt good to be out of the rain It felt weird to be out on the course
In the desert, you can remember your name At the golf course, you can’t putt for a point
‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain Cause there ain’t no hole there to give you no gain
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
After two days in the desert sun After two trips round the holess green
My skin began to turn red My eyes began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun After three trips round the holess green
I was looking at a river bed I was looking at a hopeless case
And the story it told of a river that flowed And the truth it told of the grass that grew
Made me sad to think it was dead Made me sad to think it was true
You see I’ve been through the desert You see I’ve been to the golf course
On a horse with no name with a green with no hole
It felt good to be out of the rain It felt weird to be out on the course
In the desert, you can remember your name Out on the back nine, you can’t putt for a point
‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain Cause there ain’t no hole there to give you no gain
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
After nine days, I let the horse run free After six tries, I took a double bogy
‘Cause the desert had turned to sea Cause the green had won victory
There were plants and birds and rocks and things There were pars and birds and flags and pins
There was sand and hills and rings There was 2 and 3 and 4 putts
The ocean is a desert with it’s life underground Golfing is a challenge with its full set of greens
And a perfect disguise above And a perfect putt is more rare
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground Under the golf course, lies some perfect made greens
But the humans will give no love But the golfers will give no love
You see I’ve been through the desert You see I’ve been to the golf course
On a horse with no name with a green with no pin
It felt good to be out of the rain It felt weird to be out on the course
In the desert, you can remember your name At the golf course, you can’t putt for a point
‘Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain Cause there ain’t no hole there to give you no gain
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la
La, la, la, la, la, la

You guys do a great job organizing this league. Thanks for all you do
I like the “thoughts on life” section. How true!
Good job, Carroll, thanks.
Bob does most of the work. He sends me the sheets via email. I just post them to the site.
Having the ability to see the results from a match has made the league even more fun. Thanks for making it happen.
Looks good Carroll you are doing a great job.
Great job on the website! Thanks for all you guys do. Keep up the good work!
